Peter Obi and Afrobeat star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, have celebrated songstress Tems for her victory at the 67th Grammy Awards on Monday.

Tems, whose full name is Temilade Openiyi, won the Best African Music Performance category for her hit song Love Me Jeje, triumphing over fellow Nigerian nominees Davido, Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, Lojay, and Burna Boy.

In his congratulatory message, Peter Obi expressed his joy, stating, “I am always elated by the remarkable achievements of Nigerian youths in various fields, particularly in the entertainment industry.”

“I like therefore to extend my hearty congratulations to our Nigerian Afrobeats star, Tems @temsbaby, who just secured her second Grammy Award with her win in the Best African Music Performance category,” the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election wrote in a post on his X handle on Monday morning.

“Obi also congratulated other Nigerian artists who were nominated for the Grammy Awards and believes the country’s creatives are putting “the nation on the global map”.

Putting Nigeria On Global Map

“I also rejoice with Nigeria’s entertainment industry and other Nigerian artists who were nominated for different awards in their respective categories,” Obi said.

“Undoubtedly, Nigeria remains home to the endless flow of talents who through their creative arts, continue to put the nation on the global map. I firmly remain committed to building a nation that fosters growth among the youths and helps them discover and harness their individual talents for national productivity.”

‘We Are Proud of You!’

Davido also shared his excitement, writing, “Congratulations to my one and only! @chrisbrown! And to the Queen @temsbaby. We are proud of you!”

This marks Tems’ second Grammy win. Her first came in 2023 when she earned the Best Melodic Rap Performance award for her contribution to Wait for U, a 2022 hit by Future featuring Drake.
