Wema Bank welcomes two new directors to board

Wema Bank Plc unveils the addition of industry experts Segun Opeke and Yusuf Kazaure to its Board of Directors, endorsed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Opeke, a University of Lagos graduate in Banking and Finance with an MBA, has furthered his education at prestigious institutions such as the Colombia Business School and the London Business School. He has also participated in various professional and leadership programs at renowned institutions, including the INSEAD Business School in France and Euromoney in London.

He initiated his professional journey at the then Chartered Bank Limited, subsequently assuming strategic roles in various banking institutions. This includes leading the Consumer Banking Team at FSB International Bank, serving as an Area Manager at Prudent Bank, and playing pivotal roles at Skye Bank, later becoming the Group Head of Corporate Banking, Aviation, and Maritime group following the bank’s consolidation in 2006. After Polaris Bank’s acquisition of the defunct Skye Bank in 2018, he served as an Executive Director overseeing Lagos Business and Corporate Banking directorates until his retirement in June 2023.

Yusuf Kazaure, a seasoned Corporate and Technology Industry professional, boasts over 35 years of diverse experience across architecture, construction, banking, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). An alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, he holds BSc and MSc degrees in Architecture, an MBA from Bayero University in Kano, and a Diploma in Computing from Oxford University in the UK. Kazaure has further enriched his knowledge through executive training at renowned institutions worldwide, including INSEAD in France, Wharton, University of Pennsylvania, the CIO Institute of Carnegie Mellon University in the US, and the Advanced Management Training Program (AMP) at the Lagos Business School.

A fellow of the Nigeria Computer Society, the Nigeria Institute of Management Consultants, and the Nigerian Institute of Architects, he is presently undertaking a PhD in Cybersecurity at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nigeria.
