President Bola Tinubu has reassured Nigerians that his administration is addressing the issue of nationwide blackouts and that electricity supply will improve.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress 4th Elective National Convention held on Friday night at Eagle Square in Abuja, the President acknowledged the growing concerns over poor power supply across the country.

“I assure you, many of you lamenting the problems of electricity power. Yes, we are paying attention to that,” Tinubu stated.

He revealed that the Grid Asset Management Company will add 1,500MW to a new grid corridor as part of ongoing efforts to tackle persistent electricity challenges.

Tinubu also assured party members and Nigerians that the government is taking steps to enhance funding in the power sector.

“We are going to improve…Electricity will become better and be rest assured,” the President stated.

He further connected improved power supply to economic growth, especially in the area of industrial development.

“There will be opportunity and progress in our industrial life.”

The President’s remarks come amid widespread frustration over erratic electricity supply, with many homes and businesses facing prolonged outages.

In recent years, the national grid has experienced multiple collapses, including incidents in 2025 and 2026, leaving millions without power for extended periods.

Earlier at the convention, Tinubu admitted that despite economic progress under his administration, the country still faces longstanding challenges such as electricity shortages, debts owed to Generation Companies and gas suppliers, as well as outdated transmission infrastructure.

The Grid Asset Management Company was established on March 4 following approval by the Federal Executive Council, based on a proposal by the President.
