Why electricity supply has reduced – Ikeja Electric

11

Ikeja Electric Plc has attributed the reduction in electricity supply across its network to insufficient power allocation from the national grid.

The electricity distribution company disclosed this in a public notice issued on Monday, October 19, 2026, as customers continue to experience shorter hours of electricity supply across its coverage areas.

“We wish to inform customers across Ikeja Electric network that the reduced hours of electricity supply is due to a shortfall in the amount of power currently allocated to our network from the national grid,” the notice read.

The company acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the reduced supply and appealed to customers to remain patient while efforts were being made to address the situation.

“We understand the inconvenience this may cause and sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding,” it stated.

Ikeja Electric said it was engaging relevant stakeholders to secure an improvement in the amount of electricity allocated to its network.

“Please be assured that we are actively engaging the relevant stakeholders to improve the available power supply and will continue to distribute the power received from the grid as efficiently and equitably as possible,” the notice added.

The distribution company also assured customers that it would continue to provide updates as the situation develops.

“We remain committed to keeping you informed as the situation evolves,” it said.

The development means customers within Ikeja Electric’s franchise areas may continue to experience reduced electricity supply until the power allocation from the national grid improves.
