Paul O. Ibe, Special Assistant on Public Communication to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has expressed concern about how the Presidency is managing information surrounding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing state visit to the Republic of Turkey.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page on Monday, Ibe revealed that President Tinubu left Abuja on Sunday, January 26, 2026, for a diplomatic trip expected to span several days. He pointed out that although the Presidency, in a statement released on January 25, confirmed the President’s departure, it failed to disclose how long the visit would last or when he is expected to return.

Ibe noted that the statement only mentioned that President Tinubu would return “at the conclusion of the visit,” without offering any clarification on the duration of the trip.

The former Vice President’s aide questioned what he described as an emerging trend of omitting return dates whenever the President travels abroad, arguing that such a practice raises concerns about transparency and public accountability.

President Tinubu’s visit to Turkey is reportedly aimed at deepening diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and the Republic of Turkey, but the Presidency has not yet provided a detailed schedule or timeline for the engagement.
