The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has debunked viral reports alleging that Nigeria’s booth at the ongoing Tokyo International Conference on African Development in Japan was left unattended.
An attendee, Idris Bello, had earlier claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that Nigeria’s stand was the only one without representatives, unlike other participating countries.
But in a statement shared on X on Wednesday, the ministry refuted the claim, explaining that the booth had not yet been formally inaugurated at the time.
The post read, “Contrary to a tweet made by a participant at TICAD, the Nigerian booth at #TICAD9 has not yet been opened.
“The booth will be officially inaugurated on Thursday, 21st August 2025, after which it will become fully operational and serve the delegates of TICAD.”
