This follows his earlier 16-day commissioning exercise, which concluded on July 3, 2025.

According to Lere Olayinka, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, the Minister will today, Tuesday, August 19, 2025, commission the fully rehabilitated Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant at Lower Usuma Dam in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council.

A statement by Olayinka said: “Flag-off of the construction and expansion of water supply to FCT Satellite towns will start tomorrow, with Lot 1; Bwari Township in Bwari Area Council.

“On Thursday, Lot 2; Karu town and environs in Abuja Municipal Area Council will be flagged off by the Minister.”

The Greater Abuja Water Supply Project was commissioned on June 16, 2025.

Wike had disclosed that the FCT administration signed a new agreement during President Tinubu’s 2023 visit to China, meant to extend water supply to satellite communities, including Bwari, Kubwa, and Karu.

He said procurement processes for those extensions were near completion, with promises of timely delivery.
