The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has established a committee to address the growing presence of Almajiri children in Abuja.

FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, revealed this while briefing journalists after a closed-door security meeting chaired by the minister.

He explained that the initiative aims to keep security agencies informed about the Almajiri system, particularly their welfare and education.

Though he dismissed concerns about security threats in the capital, Disu urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities.

The committee, which includes the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Department of State Services (DSS), has been given two weeks to submit its report.

Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command has arrested five suspects for various crimes.
