Wike sets up panel to probe Abuja ‘one chance’ death victim

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesome Wike, has sets up a nine-member committee to investigate the tragic demise of 33-year-old Greatness Tolulope Olorunfemi, who passed away following an assault in a “one chance” vehicle in Abuja.

Olorunfemi fell victim to a group of armed robbers operating under the notorious guise of “one chance” in Abuja. She was targeted in a “one chance” vehicle, subjected to stabbing, and subsequently thrown out of a moving vehicle along the Maitama-Kubwa highway.

The investigative panel, tasked with examining her untimely passing, consists of organizations such as the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDDAN), Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), as well as the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), among others.

The Minister extended his heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of the departed, affirming his steadfast dedication to ensuring that the inquiry would be carried out with the highest levels of openness, integrity, and proficiency.

According to an official statement from the office of the Mandate Secretary of the Health Service & Environment Secretariat (FCT), Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, and as endorsed by Assistant Director Badiru Salisu Yakassi, the investigative panel is set to be formally inaugurated on Thursday by 10 am at the health and environment secretariat (new office, Abuja Property Development Company, area 11, behind aegis, FCT).

The Secretariat acknowledges the patience and understanding of the public and assures that the panel’s conclusions will be promptly shared with the community once the investigation concludes.

Information gathered by The Nation revealed after the incident occurred, the victim was transported to the Maitama District Hospital in Abuja, where she was sadly pronounced deceased.

At the time of her passing, Olorunfemi held the positions of Assistant Secretary and Public Relations Officer at the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), Abuja Chapter. Additionally, she was an active member of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) network.
