A windstorm has damaged Kuletu community in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State, impacting more than 450 homes.
According to a local radio station, the storm struck on Sunday evening, June 15, around 4:47 p.m., tearing off rooftops, displacing property, and completely destroying several structures.
Jibrin Abdullahi, a resident overseeing the community’s damage assessment, reported that a total of 452 houses have so far been identified as either partially or fully destroyed.
According to him, “We are in a pathetic situation. Some houses have completely collapsed while others lost their roofs completely. Most of the people in our community no longer have shelter and are in urgent need of assistance. So, I call on relevant agencies to immediately come to our the aid” Abdullahi said.
As at the time of filing this report, no official figures have been released by authorities on the total extent of the damage.
