A woman is in intensive care after being attacked by wolves while jogging in an animal park near Paris, according to French media reports.

On Sunday morning, the 36-year-old woman, who was staying at a lodge within Thoiry park, mistakenly entered the main safari zone designated for cars.

She was attacked by three Arctic wolves, sustaining severe bites to her neck, back, and leg.

Thoiry, located about 40km (25 miles) west of Paris, is one of France’s most popular wildlife parks, housing around 800 animals that roam freely while visitors observe from their vehicles.

The park provides accommodation near the wolf and bear enclosures, with the lodge area secured by electric fences and ditches, as reported by France Info.

It remains unclear why the woman entered the car-only safari zone, and park authorities have yet to comment.

An unnamed police source told Le Parisien newspaper, “We do not know at this stage whether the guest made a mistake or if there was an issue with the signposts.”

The woman was rescued by park attendants who heard her screams during the attack and was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital.

An investigation is currently underway.
