Yewa North LG Chairman praises Ogun Governor on food basket program

The transition committee Chairman Yewa North Local Government, Mr. Bankole Babatunde David has praised Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the steadfast efforts put together to optinise productivity of famers at Yewa North Local Government tagged as ” Anchor Borrowers Cassava Program “.


Registration of the program according to a media statement signed by Mr. Sodeinde Kolawole, Information Officer of the Council started October in 2019 which called upon and captured various farmers at Yewa North Local Government.


Now, Ogun state government has begun sending messages to those who registered in October 2019 to come for the verification.
Mr. Mulero O.A, Head of Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the Local Government and a State Officer from the  Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Sanusi Nurudeen Olayinka maintained that the verification is meant to open window of opportunity for intending Anchor Borrowers’ candidates which will avail them the chance to open account with a certified bank while enjoining the famers to reciprocate the gesture, adding that the purpose of the monies the government wants to give them should be wisely spent on the aforementioned reasons.


However, Mr. James Arijogbade, Chairman, Otele Famers Association at Ayetoro enthuse on the remarkable scheme, and posit that the program if materialised; will put foods on everyone’s table in Ogun State as a whole, even as he advised the inhabitants to turn out for the verification exercise which will end on February 14, 2020.
