A student has been confirmed dead, and four others injured after a classroom corridor collapsed at Government Girls Science and Technical College, Potiskum, Yobe State.
The incident occurred around midday on Thursday as students were preparing for their lunch break.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, Bukar Aji, confirmed that the injured students, all in SSII, are receiving treatment at Potiskum Specialist Hospital.

He added that the State Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has been tasked with investigating the cause of the collapse.
Expressing sympathy for the affected families, Aji assured that the government remains committed to maintaining school structures to prevent future incidents.
