Youths from the Obaze community off Upper Mission Road in Benin-City barricaded a section of the Upper Mission Road on Saturday in protest of a young man’s death.

Ikpomwosa Aikpitanyi was allegedly executed extrajudicially by the police.

He was an orphan who was reportedly a member of the community’s vigilante group until his death at approximately 11 p.m. on Friday.

The youths stated that they wanted to see that justice was served in this case.

In a statement to the media, the police stated that they had arrested the operatives who responded to the distress call that resulted in the shooting and that investigations were ongoing.
