Zamfara First Lady distributes relief supplies to 20, 000 vulnerable households

The wife of the Governor of Zamfara State, Hajia Huriyya Lawal, has provided food items and clothing materials to 20,000 vulnerable households spanning the fourteen local government areas within the state.

The commencement of the Ramadan welfare distribution took place in Gummi, Bukkuyum, Anka, Talata Mafara, Bakura, and Maradun Local Government Areas of the state on Tuesday.

During the launch event, the governor’s wife announced that the distributed food items comprised rice, millet, guinea corn, maize, sugar, spaghetti, beans, groundnut oil, and wrappers.

She emphasized that this initiative highlighted the state government’s dedication to aiding the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of society. By supplying essential food provisions to vulnerable households, she noted that it offered crucial relief to families experiencing economic hardship and food insecurity, especially during the Ramadan month.

Furthermore, she stated that this humanitarian act not only addressed the immediate needs of vulnerable households but also showcased compassion, understanding, and solidarity with those enduring challenging circumstances.

Hajiya Lawal reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continually supporting and ensuring the welfare and well-being of its citizens. She urged the people of the state to utilize the Ramadan period to pray for divine intervention to end the security challenges and economic hardships prevalent in the state and the nation as a whole.

Emphasizing on the government’s initiative, the Emir of Gummi, Retired Justice Lawal Hassan, remarked that the government conveyed a significant message of care and inclusivity. This action reaffirmed its pledge to inclusively support vulnerable households and provide assistance during times of need.

Expressing gratitude, one of the beneficiaries, Hadiza Ibrahim, thanked the state government for its benevolent gesture.

She said; “I’m very happy with the palliatives she distributed to us during this month of Ramadan. May God bless her. The Problem we are facing in Anka Local government is that of insecurity. The bandits have been disturbing us. So, I am appealing to the government that if any assistance comes, they should give it to us women because we are the ones who take care of the children and face many challenges.”
