Zonal Congress Fallout: PDP to  reconcile Aggrieved members

Factional leader of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Senator Abiodun Olujimi says moves to reconcile warring groups and consolidate on the outcome of the just-concluded Southwest congress of the party, starts immediately.

Senator Olujimi gave this indication while in Ado-Ekiti, where she said the outcome of the Southwest Congress means a new dawn in PDP with assurance that a common front will be forged to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reacting to what the outcome of the Congress meant for the unity of the party at the zonal and states level, Senator Olujimi explained that the result has shown the determination of all stakeholders to put behind them their differences and work for the progress of the party.

The erstwhile EKITI State Deputy Governor, who commended the spirit of sportsmanship displayed by the former Governor of Ekiti, Ayodele Fayose during the congress, encouraged him to uphold his promise to work harmoniously with other party leaders.

Commenting on the crisis rocking the Ekiti PDP, the legislator representing Ekiti South at the Senate confirmed that the next agenda after the congress, was to reconcile all aggrieved party members in in the state, assuring that all court cases will be withdrawn.

Senator Olujimi who saluted the courage of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for displaying maturity in the face of tough opposition and challenges from top party leaders, noted that the high level of commitment and understanding demonstrated by all stakeholders leading to the successful conduct of the exercise in Osogbo, indicated that PDP is determined to wrestle power from APC in any futuristic election both at the Federal and States level.

At the Congress in Osogbo, Osun State, loyalists of Governor Makinde of Oyo State emerged winners to be Zonal Executives with a former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Taofeeq Arapaja,  as the new southwest Chairman of the PDP.

Arapaja defeated the immediate past Zonal Chairman of the region, Eddy Olafeso, after polling 343 votes while Eddy Olafeso scored 330 out of 675 votes cast with 10 voided.
