The National Assembly has begun the induction ceremony for the 10th Assembly’s Senators and Members-Elect.

The purpose of the induction ceremony is to educate lawmakers-elect on the legislative process.

According to the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, this is critical because more than 70% of Federal Lawmakers entering the 10th Assembly are first-time legislators.

On the leadership tussle in both Houses, some of the lawmakers-elect are divided on how the National Assembly leadership should emerge.

While some lawmakers say the political parties should not interfere in the leadership choices, other say the parties should give direction in form of zoning of the legislative positions.
