All does not seem to be well with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) even as the 2019 general elections is less than a week away.
This became obvious during President Muhammadu Buhari’s rally on Monday in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The rally broadcast live by the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) showed some stoning and booing the president while he addresses the crowd.
President Buhari while addressing the crowd adviced them to vote in their rightful candidate in the 2019 gubernatorial election.
Shortly after his advice, the president shouted APC. However, this does seemed to go well with the crowd as they resorted to throwing object at the president.
The party chairman, Adams Oshiomhole was also not spared when he was invited to the podium for his speech. As he began to speak, persons suspected to be hoodlums started throwing stones at him and one of the stones flew in the direction where the President was sitting.
Men of the State Services hurriedly protected him and other dignitaries while the national anthem was on to round off the campaign for the day.
Recall that the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has been divided following the break up of a serving lawmaker representing Egbado South and Ipokia federal constituency of Ogun State, Mr.Adekunle Akinlade from the party to the Alliance Peoples Movement APM after he was denied the Governorship ticket.
The APM has been gathering support for president Muhammadu Buhari in the upcoming presidential election but refused to align with the APC in Ogun state.
