2019: National Rescue Movement will change Nigeria’s politics – Chairman

Sen. Saidu Dansadau, National Chairman of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), said the party would change the face of politics in Nigeria.

He stated this on Saturday in Abuja at the official launching of the party and said that NRM was determined to do things differently.

Dansadau said that the registration of the party by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was a new dawn for the country.

According to him, it is also a resuscitation of hope for the redemption of Nigeria.

“It has pleased God Almighty to give Nigeria a fresh chance of getting it right, having been unfortunately dragged through the path of underwhelming performance,” he said.

Dansadau said that NRM was a divinely-inspired vehicle to rescue Nigeria from hopelessness and the gale of stagnation which it had been stuck in.

He maintained that the party was not just a political party, but a mass movement of a wide spectrum of Nigerians who were genuinely unhappy at the rate of its downward slope.

He added that members of the party believed that with selfless exertions and commitment to the ideas of the nation´s founding fathers, it would become greater.

The chairman added that the launch of the party to the public was one of the first steps towards its resolve to change the face of the country and to do things differently.

He said that the time was ripe for another change and that it was time for patriotic Nigerians to join its fold to salvage the country.

Dansadau added that though the party was new, it would contest all elective positions available in the country´s Constitution in 2019, including the presidency.

He also said that the party would contest in the governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun coming up in July and September, respectively.

“We are confident that with the consultations and the broad people-friendly policies of this party, the electorate would realise that a new promising crop has germinated with vigour in the country´s political landscape.

“We would have the courage of our conviction; we would walk our talk; 2019 will be a defining moment for Nigeria.

´´We would serve with passion and clarity of vision, our purpose must converge into focus and through hard-work and sacrifice, Nigerians will unite through common efforts in mutual responsibility,” he said.

He stressed that the party would not allow the partisanship and narrow world view that currently pervaded the polity to strangle its urge to serve.

Dandadau said that NRM would build enduring alliances of ideas and re-direct the arc of the country´s destiny.

He explained that every responsible government must exist to serve the people, saying “where a political party’s change does not secure an improvement in the lives of the people, that change has failed´´.

“The nation must be rescued from such a change.

“It is our resolve in the National Rescue Movement to do things differently and to stand out in the crowd. We must restore to this nation, respect, dignity and confidence.

“We must give the people of this country confidence that if they work hard in legitimate pursuit, the system will encourage and support them to attain their potential,” Dasadau said.

A leader of the party, Alhaji Guba Galadimawa, who presented the party´s vision to the public, recommended it to all, saying that NRM was a party for all Nigerians.

He expressed happiness at the turnout of people at the event and congratulated the party´s national chairman.

Galadimawa said that the party was the best alternative for Nigerians.

A Guest Speaker at the event, Mr Dike Chukwumeriji, decried the country´s challenges and said that there was need to proffer urgent solution to address the country´s challenges which bordered on security, healthcare, education, food security and others.

The party´s flag was formally handed to its various states’ chairmen, while its national officers were also ratified at the event.
