2023: Kannywood actors included in APC campaign council
The inclusion of Kannywood actors and screen divas into the campaign council of the All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has been confirmed by the Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong.
Lalong, who is also the PCC’s Director General, granted his permission in a statement released on Tuesday by Dr. Makut Macham, his Director of Press and Public Affairs.
The Governor of Plateau further stated that the action was taken as part of the council’s efforts to more deeply involve creative artists from northern Nigeria in the campaigns.
With several officials in charge of other sections, the Kannywood organization is led by Abdul Amart as director, Ismail Afakallah as deputy director, and Sani Mu’azu as secretary.
The change occurs just 24 hours after Tinubu received the support of pastoralists from Miyetti Allah and organisations of northern rice producers.
Lalong stated that Tinubu’s commitment to the group came as a result of the endorsement of his candidacy by prominent Kannywood entertainers during his most recent visit to Kano.
The statement read, “Tinubu had promised to ensure that they are given an opportunity to be a part of the campaigns and also showcase their talents towards actualizing his dream of becoming the President of Nigeria.”
The Plateau Governor gave the actors and artists his blessing on Tuesday and tasked them with using their enormous fan bases to spread the word about Tinubu’s candidacy and his platform.
