The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement was made on Friday at the Government House in Uyo, the state capital.
Governor Eno explained that his decision followed “three months of wide consultation” with key stakeholders across the state.
While expressing gratitude to the PDP for their support during his time in office, Eno described his move as a step toward progress, emphasizing his commitment to the state’s development.
He highlighted his admiration for President Bola Tinubu and stressed the importance of aligning Akwa Ibom State with the federal government to ensure the state continues to benefit from federal initiatives.
Eno reassured residents of Akwa Ibom State that his dedication to their welfare remains unwavering, regardless of political affiliation.
“After completing the rounds of my consultation as your servant whom you have elected to serve, I have therefore decided to progressively move to the APC,” he stated.
The announcement was attended by several APC governors, including the Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), and Bassey Otu (Cross River), among others.
