Anambra Assembly Speaker impeached
The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rita Maduagwu, has been impeached.
She was impeached by 22 out of 30 members of the state assembly on Tuesday during plenary at the Assembly chamber in Awka, the state capital.
The former speaker was impeached on the grounds of alleged incompetence, docility, financial impropriety and high-handedness.
The motion was moved by Ikem Uzoezie who represents Aguata II Constituency and was seconded by Onyebuchi Offor from Ekwusigo Constituency.
Uzoezie was consequently elected as the new speaker.
