The governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has revealed that he will officially join the All Progressives Congress (APC) on November 19.
Speaking with journalists on Saturday, he stated that his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is tied to what he described as the “destiny of Taraba people,” adding that he will be “expecting a lot of visitors” for the event.
“There is going to be a major shift and alignment on November 19,” he said, noting that the transition represents a significant political movement for the state.
Kefas becomes the latest PDP governor to switch to the APC in 2025, joining Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Peter Mbah (Enugu), and Douye Diri (Bayelsa).
Elected in 2023 with 257,926 votes, Kefas defeated NNPP’s Muhammad Yahaya and APC’s Emmanuel Bwacha. Taraba has been governed by PDP members continuously since 1999.
