Drama as Osun lawmaker disowns Oyetola’s JSC nominee during screening

There was a mild drama at the Osun State House of Assembly yesterday when the lawmaker representing Ejigbo, Adekunle Oyekunle, disowned the nominee for the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola sent a letter nominating ex-Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s Senior Special Assistant on Legal Matters Adebayo Salmon for screening as a JSC commissioner.

It was read during plenary yesterday and Salmon was called for screening.

The Speaker, Timothy Owoeye, requested Oyekunle to speak as since he is from the sane constituency (Ejigbo) as the nominee.

But Oyekunle disowned Salmon, saying he did not know him.

He said he was concerned about Salmon’s availability in discharging his duty.

“Today is the first time I will be seeing Adebayo Salmon. I called him on phone to congratulate him of his nomination but till now I have not seen him,” he said.

Owoeye halted proceedings for one hour, after which it resumed plenary and screened Adebayo.
