Ekiti 2018: Olujimi writes Secondus, demands automatic senatorial ticket to support Fayose’s candidate

Former governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in last month’s Ekiti State gubernatorial primary, Senator Biodun Olujimi, has given conditions why she would support the eventual winner of the party’s ticket, Prof. Kolapo Olusola.

Olujimi who currently represents Ekiti South in the National Assembly, stated this in a letter she sent to the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus.

In the letter dated May 30, the former deputy governor is demanding that “the Senate slot of Ekiti South senatorial district” be ceded to her unconditionally.

She also wants allocation of certain percentage of elective positions and federal and state appointments to her team.

The senator is one of the 49-member campaign council recently constituted for Ekiti governorship election by PDP National Secretariat, which has Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel as its Chairman.

She however, blamed former PDP National Publicity Secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye for dumping the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC) “in spite of the windows of opportunities to challenge” the outcome of the primary in court.

Senator Olujimi had withdrawn from the gubernatorial contest for Prince Adeyeye at the venue of the primary.

She said her team decided to remain in PDP and to participate actively in the gubernatorial campaign despite the defection of PDP members to other political parties to deplete the chances of the party in the July 14 governorship election.

Prof. Olusola later in an interview said his campaign team is ready to dialogue with Senator Olujimi, adding, “There is nothing wrong in dialogue.

“Our governor, Dr. Peter Ayodele Fayose and myself have great respect for Senator Olujimi and other leaders of the party and we will do everything humanly possible to make sure that we all work together.

“Before now, the governor has mandated that we must reach out to anyone who might be aggrieved and have shown interest in reconciliation and we are already doing that. Even those who left the PDP before now, we are reaching out to them.”
