Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK) has expressed relief after being acquitted of medical forgery charges by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Speaking on Tuesday, Fani-Kayode said, “I thank God for my family and my children. Four EFCC cases over the past 18 years have been an ordeal, affecting my family, career, and business. Today, the fourth and final case is done. I can now focus on my family and my nine children.”
A Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos, ruled in favour of Fani-Kayode, with Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe stating that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case. The judge upheld a no-case submission from his lawyer, Norrison Quakers (SAN), ruling that the EFCC did not link him to the alleged offence.
Fani-Kayode had faced a 12-count charge over the alleged use of forged medical reports in an ongoing N4.9 billion fraud case.
