Ekiti Assembly on Tuesday received a request from Governor Kayode Fayemi for confirmation of seven commissioner- nominees
The request was contained in a letter sent to the Assembly and read during plenary session by Speaker Funminiyi Afuye.
On the list read by the Speaker on Tuesday include: Otunba Diran Adesua (Ekiti East); Prince Olabode Adetoyi (Moba); Dr Olabimpe Aderiye (Ido Osi); Dr Oye Filani (Ikole); Princess Iyabo Fakunle (Ilejemeje); Mrs. Mariam Ogunlade (Emure) and Mr. Akin Omole (Oye).
Also nominated for board positions were: Prof Femi Akinwunmi (SUBEB) and Mr. Febisola Adewale (Local Government Service Commission).
Afuye urged the nominees to submit 30 copies of their Curriculum Vitaes to the House not later than Friday, adding screening would begin on Tuesday, August 25.
According to reports, the list was part of Fayemi’s plans to effect major cabinet reshuffle in his administration with appointment of the seven new members.
Confirming the list, Fayemi’s Chief Press Secretary to Governor, Yinka Oyebode, said it was part of strategies to fortify the cabinet and bring in new bloods and ideas to develop the state.
Oyebode, who spoke with our correspondent on phone, added Fayemi was determined to deliver on his mandate to bring economic prosperity, by working with other progressives to give the people the required dividends of democracy.
When asked who are those that will be shoved out of the cabinet, Oyebode said: “Let us wait and see how the screening will end before talking about who will be affected.
“The essence of the cabinet reshuffle is to strengthen the government for better performance and that we shall achieve in the end”.
A source within the administration privy to details of the planned cabinet reshuffle told our correspondent Fayemi would redistribute some portfolios.
The source, who refused to disclose names of those likely to be affected by the changes, said commissioners whose performances are below standard and loyalty to Governor Fayemi doubted would be axed.
