[FULL LIST] APC dominates by-elections, wins five of six seats

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the winners of the senatorial, federal constituency and state assembly by-elections held across several states on Saturday.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged dominant, securing victory in five of the six elections, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claimed the Rivers south-east senatorial seat.

Below are the results declared by INEC.

ENUGU NORTH (ENUGU)

Asogwa Ikeje Israel of the APC was declared winner of the by-election.

Results:

APC — 162,360 votes
NDC — 3,129 votes
ADC — 1,676 votes
LP — 1,027 votes

NASARAWA NORTH (NASARAWA)

Danladi Envulu-Anza of the APC won the by-election held to fill the vacant seat left by the death of Godiya Akwashiki.

Aminu Ali, professor and returning officer, announced the result at the College of Education, Akwanga.

Results:

APC (Danladi Envulu-Anza) — 45,362 votes
LP (Labaran Maku) — 12,931 votes
PDP (David Ombugadu) — 11,570 votes
ADC (Alaku Ahmed) — 4,244 votes
NDC (Duba Dodo) — 1,496 votes
NNPP (John Araneshri) — 102 votes

ONDO SOUTH (ONDO)

Dayo Faduyile of the APC won the by-election conducted across six local government areas in the district.

Gbenga Solomon-Ibileye, vice-chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja and returning officer, announced the result in Okitipupa.

Results:

APC (Dayo Faduyile) — 68,474 votes
APM (Adeolu Akinwunmi) — 1,411 votes
APP (Adesanya Olaoluwa) — 213 votes
BP (Clement Funso-Nejo) — 70 votes

The election was held following the appointment of Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s permanent representative to the United Nations.

RIVERS SOUTH-EAST (RIVERS)

Olaka Nwogu of the PDP emerged winner of the senatorial by-election.

Rosemary Ogu, INEC returning officer, announced the result on Sunday.

Results:

PDP (Olaka Nwogu) — 47,961 votes
APC (Osarosaka Ebenezer) — 1,647 votes
AA (Beke Fabeke) — 1,175 votes
LP (Sam Bariboa) — 367 votes

The by-election was conducted to fill the vacancy created by the death of Barinada Mpigi.

DAWAKIN KUDU/WARAWA FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY (KANO)

Rabiu Shuaibu of the APC was declared winner of the by-election.

Umar Sani, professor and returning officer, announced the result on Saturday.

Results:

APC (Rabiu Shuaibu) — 35,356 votes
APM (Lawal Haruna) — 268 votes
LP (Abubakar Muhammad) — 98 votes

Declaring the result, Sani said: “That Rabiu Shuaibu of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”

ZURU STATE CONSTITUENCY (KEBBI)

Rabiu Aiki of the APC won the state assembly by-election.

Results:

APC (Rabiu Aiki) — 4,871 votes
LP (Aliyu Muhammad) — 168 votes

According to INEC, 109,385 voters were registered for the election, while 5,156 voters were accredited.

The commission said 5,055 votes were valid, 95 votes were rejected, and the total votes cast stood at 5,150.

Aiki will now represent the Zuru constituency in the Kebbi state house of assembly.
