He made the declaration during a statewide broadcast on Friday.

Fintiri disclosed that the switch was carried out alongside all members of his cabinet, political appointees, and elected local government chairmen.

Earlier in the week, the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Wesley Bathiya, stepped down from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) together with 14 other lawmakers.

Bathiya announced the development during plenary, formally submitting resignation letters from the affected legislators.

After wrapping up the day’s proceedings, he restored order in the chamber and read each letter aloud, confirming their departure from the party in power.

Mahmud Kallamu, chairman of the House Committee on Information and one of the lawmakers who left the party, characterized the decision as strategic. Meanwhile, an APC legislator, speaking off-session, noted that the party would receive the defectors should they decide to join.
