The Nigerian actress Hilda Dokubo has been suspended from the Labour Party at her Asari Toru local government area (LGA) in the state of Rivers.
Dokubo, the LP’s chairwoman in Rivers, was reportedly suspended on Thursday following an emergency meeting of the party’s ward executive committee on July 15, according to NAN.
Among other things, Dokubo was allegedly charged with financial malfeasance, misuse of office, and violating party rules.
Her suspension was announced in a letter to the LP chairperson of Asari Toru, written by the ward chairman, Ajalamonia Ibama, the secretary, Lole Amacheer, and the treasurer, Emmanuel Ibamathe.
The women’s leader Osaki Dieypiriye and the press secretary Osaki Dokubo also signed the letter.
The 54-year-old actress‘s claims were thoroughly investigated, according to the ward officials, who made the decision.
They claimed that strong proof had been found to back up their assertions.
During her youth service, Dokubo made her Nollywood debut in the 1992 movie “Evil Passion.”
Since then, she has been in a number of additional films, such as “My Goodwill,” “End of the Wicked,” and “Gone Forever.”
At the 11th Africa Movie Academy Awards, Dokubo took home the awards for “Best Actress in a Supporting Role” and “Best Actress in a Comedy.”
She announced her interest in running for the Labour Party in the 2022 house of representatives from the Asalga/Akulga federal constituency.
