The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary, in line with a recent Court of Appeal judgment.

The party announced this in a statement on Wednesday, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

Court Ruling Upholds Udeh-Okoye’s Position

The PDP stated that it is bound by the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, which affirmed Udeh-Okoye as the party’s rightful National Secretary.

As a result, the party’s resolution will be transmitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant bodies for official recognition.

PDP NWC’s Official Resolution

Following an extensive review during its February 12, 2025 meeting, the NWC examined:

  • The High Court of Enugu’s declaratory judgment
  • The Court of Appeal’s ruling affirming Udeh-Okoye
  • Legal opinions from Dr. Kabiru T. Turaki (SAN) and the PDP National Legal Adviser

“After due consideration, the NWC overwhelmingly recognises and confirms Rt. Hon. S.K.E Udeh-Okoye as the substantive National Secretary of the PDP, in full compliance with the Court of Appeal’s judgment,” the statement read.

The party emphasised that there is no existing court order that supersedes the Court of Appeal’s judgment.

Commitment to Party Unity & Rule of Law

The PDP commended its leaders, members, and stakeholders for their loyalty and respect for the rule of law.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to its Constitution, democratic principles, and the stability and growth of Nigeria.
