The series of resignations affecting the Rivers State Executive Council persists as three additional commissioners step down.

Following four resignations from Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s cabinet on Thursday, the Commissioners for Housing, Gift Worlu, Education, Chinedu Mmom, and Transport, Jacobson Nbina, have also tendered their resignations on Friday.

In his resignation letter addressed to the governor, Worlu stated that his decision to resign as the Commissioner for Housing is due to personal reasons that demand immediate attention.

“I am writing this letter to tender my resignation from the post Hon. Commissioner for Housing Rivers State. I am resigning Because of personal reasons that require immediate attention,” the letter read in part.

In his own letter, Mmom said, “I hereby resign my appointment as the Hon. Commissioner for Education, Rivers State for personal reasons.

“I wish to express my sincere appreciation to you for the opportunity given to me to serve in your administration and wish you the best as you carry on with the governance of our dear state.”

Nbina attributed his resignation to personal reasons and family commitments.

The series of resignations commenced on Thursday with Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zaccheus Adangor, whose resignation letter was dated November 14, 2023.

This was followed by the resignations of the Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Inemi Aguma, Commissioner for Works, George Kelly Alabo, and the Finance Commissioner, Isaac Kamalu.

With these recent resignations, the tally of departed appointees now stands at 7.

The Executive Council of the Rivers State Government now comprises 11 Commissioners, down from the original 18 prior to these developments.
