Following the resignation of Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu, the former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State last Wednesday, Governor Aminu Tambuwal has nominated Alhaji Manir Dan’Iya as replacement.

The state lawmakers unanimously agreed to screen the nominee today (Thursday) during plenary.

Dan’Iya was the immediate past commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs.

Tambuwal, in a letter read on the floor of the house by the Speaker, Alhaji Salihu Maidaji , urged the assembly to confirm the nomination of Dan’Iya, in replacement of Ahmed Aliyu, who voluntarily resigned.

I wish to nominate Alhaji Manir Dan’Iya, as deputy governor in accordance with the provisions of Section 19(3)(c) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for approval of the House of Assembly,” the letter read in part.
