The mace, the symbol of authority was taken away by five unknown persons while the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu was presiding over the Senate on Wednesday (today) 18th April, 2018.
According to the source, the session started around 11am (Nigerian time) and about 15 minutes after, five unknown persons sneaked into the chamber, ran towards where the mace was and went away with it.”
At the commencement of the sitting, Ekweremadu had assured his colleagues of their safety.

The unknown persons went away in a waiting black jeep, leaving security personnel including policemen and sergeant-at-arms agape.
