House Minority Leader Ndudi Elumelu and his family members have tested negative for COVID-19.

He said his domestic staff also tested negative for the virus.

Elumelu, in a statement on Wednesday, asked Principal Officers and members of the House to go for COVID- 19 test over fear of possible mass infection among legislators.

He said: “I, Hon Ndudi Elumelu, Minority Leader House of Representatives, did another Covid-19 test on Friday 3rd of July with my family and other 11 domestic staff, and am happy to announce that the results came out negative.

“I urge every member and staff of the National Assembly to do same.”

The House adjourned for one-week on Tuesday after a closed door session with members and the leadership before the adjournment of plenary.

There were speculations on possible prevalence of the virus among lawmakers with unconfirmed report claming over 50 of legislators might have been positive but chose to hide their status.
