Ndigbo Lagos and Arthur Eze’s celebration

By Irving Zulu

The name Ndigbo Lagos may not sound as loud as Ohaneze Ndigbo. But they are individually,  part of that Igbo revered organisation. Yet Ndigbo Lagos has a distinct character.

They are made up of men of unwavering principle and iron-cast integrity with scant regards for money and men that flaunt wealth for political mileage or without decorum.

But they too have solid war chest albeit modest in their behavioural patterns.

Check out a few; Admiral Ndubisi Kanu, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe, Admiral Allison Madueke,  Dr Pascal Dozie and Chief Christopher Ezeh among others.

Because of the pedigree of these men, decisions and actions of Ndigbo Lagos are often subjected to acute analysis . And that is why the sudden rise and sound of the name Arthur Eze in their normal rendezvous has spurred curiosity if not suspicion.

This organisation of Ndigbo in Lagos is having a serious event in Lagos on Saturday December 8th, 2018.

It is a Business Roundtable in partnership with South-East Governors. All the business magnates from South-East are expected here.

But the worrying development now is the decision of a segment of this often solidly united organisation to crown billionaire business man, Chief Arthur Eze fondly called Arthur 1000, the Grand Patron of this revered scions of Igbo nation. To heighten this odd decision, the pro-Arthur Eze elements are also advocating his 70th birthday dinner at this event holding at Intercontinental Hotel Victoria Island, Lagos.

The question is how can an  organisation mix a serious high-profile business event with the birthday dinner of a non-member just being made a Grand Patron?  Worse still, invitations now in circulation has the name of Ebitu Ukiwe as the Chairman of the event, yet the man himself is allegedly not aware of this and did not give his nod. The rumour now is that he and other respectable members like Ndubisi Kanu may not grace the occasion as it is now tainted with political inuendos and plans to exploit Ndigbo Lagos for political gains. Did you say another Arthur Eze’s controversial adventure ?
