Nigeria @ 59: Abiodun Urges Seekers of Greener Pastures to Stay Back and Build Nation

Marking the 59th Anniversary of Nigeria’s independence held at MKO Stadium Abeokuta, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun called on all citizens to get involved in building Nigeria. 

He particularly urged those seeking greener pastures elsewhere to stay back and salvage the nation, rather than running abroad to seek fortunes.

While the Governor acknowledged that the country is experiencing socio-economic and security challenges, he nonetheless urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the country and trust that the national travails would end. To him, the “Nigerian spirit” will keep the nation moving.

In his message of hope to Nigerians during the celebration in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Chief Executive paid tributes to the nation’s founding fathers for building the foundation Nigeria’s unity, despite the civil war, military rules and political upheavals that fraught the nation’s independence and harmony.

“For our country to overcome her challenges, Nigerians must be patriotic, put behind ethnic differences and realise that we are Nigerians before any other affiliations.

From his angle, Abiodun prided that he being a partner in the “Nigerian project”, is ready to maximise the resources and potentials which abound in the State to improve lives of Ogun people.

As a step towards achieving that, the Governor disclosed that the State has established a Business Advisory Council, and a Public Private Partnership Office to achieve collaborative goals.

While assuring the people of improved conditions, Prince Abiodun noted that his administration was poised to turn around the State Environment, upgrade the State Master Plan, and renew designated industrial hubs with the provision of power and good infrastructure by leveraging on gas pipelines that crisscross the State.
