Wife of the Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo has advised Nigerian women to adopt periodic self-evaluation of an all-round development for possible adjustment.

The wife of the Vice President gave the advise at a two-day National Women Conference organised by Osun Officials’ Wives Association in Osogbo, capital of the State of Osun.

Mrs. Osinbajo spoke on the theme: ‘Virtuous Woman: Pushing for Greater Development’, noted that women were supposed to be harbinger of virtues worthy of emulation by their children and the society at large.

She tasked women to always strive for greater development as human beings are by nature insatiable, hence, the need to continue to work towards eradicating these social vices and ensuring peace and development in all spheres of human endeavours across the country.

In his goodwill message, Governor Rauf Aregbesola, dared members of the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists sect, saying that they were cowards and afraid to face our soldiers.

He admonished Nigerians to continue praying for quick rescue of the abducted girls of the Dapchi Government School.

Aregbesola, who lambasted the abductors of the school girls, enjoined all the participants at the conference to pray for the safety of the girls.

“Every leader as well as followers were born of a woman and their personalities are influenced by the woman, hence mothers should strive to help men and children to build a Godly character and be a virtuous person. Mothers should strive to inculcate in children the values of productivity, dignity of labour, value of money and thinking.

“As women, you should use your divinely inspired position to change the world for good. Nigeria is not what it should be today because women are not playing their roles”, he said.

Aregbesola who is the Patron and Chief Host, called on women to form an anti-war movement and as well avoid exchanging money for votes.

Also speaking, Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, stressed the importance of women to national peace and development.

Earlier in her welcome address, the chairperson of the association and wife of the Governor, Mrs. Sherifat Aregbesola disclosed that the objectives of the gathering was to further enlarge the frontiers of human development and equip women with adequate knowledge to help in the all round development of the state.

“Our development focus is to embrace skills acquisition and training and economic empowerment, creation of awareness and intervention in critical health-related issues, civic and development policy advocacy among others.

Similar associations has attained a lot of mileage in our sister states. This is a good development which promises to create a stronger bond and enhances integration among women in the South West”, she added.
