10 players to watch out for as 2023/2024 premier league season begins

After months without one of the most exciting leagues on our television screens, the Premier League finally began on Friday.

English football enthusiasts have been hooked and as expected  the first match, Burnley vs Manchester City was captivating with the later claiming a 3-0 victory. They are eagerly awaiting the start of premier league action since they have grown accustomed to the unique and spooky feeling without fans in the stadium.

As England’s top league is getting started, clubs and managers have been striving to make sure their players are well trained for action and capable of accomplishing their goals for this season.

There are 10 players to look out for, we would examine the ten players as they unveil their abilities in the new season.

 

  1. Cody Gakpo (Liverpool)

The 24year old Dutch international who was having a magnificent season at PSV, scoring 9goals and providing 12 assists in just 14 appearances in the Dutch league, joined Liverpool from PSV in January for a fee of about £40m in a five-and-a-half year deal…

Cody Gakpo scored 7 goals and provided a couple of assists in 21 Premier League appearances in the 2022/23 Premier League season, though Liverpool who did not qualify for the next season’s champions league, would definitely come back stronger next season! Cody Gakpo is a player well admired by Jurgen Klopp and he will be relevant for them next season.

Nicolas Jackson (born 19 June 2001) is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier League club Chelsea. Born in The Gambia, he plays for the Senegal national team.

The 22-year-old Senegal international joined Chelsea from Villarreal in for a fee of about €35 million (£30m/$38m) in an eight-year contract with the blues after an impressive season with Villarreal.

After an impressive 22/23 season in the LaLiga which he scored 12 goals and providing 4 assist and hitting the ball running in the pre-season, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists compounded with his enormous speed and agility Nickolas Jackson is surely one to be on the lookout for.

Declan Rice (born 14 January 1999) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Premier league club Arsenal and the England National Team.

The 24-year-old England international completed a move in the summer from West-ham to arsenal for a whooping £105m, seeing him to be the club’s record signing. The £105m Rice deal is broken down into an initial payment of £100m, which will be paid over 24 months, with £5m in add-ons, which are £1m every time Arsenal qualify for the Champions League.

Declan is well known for his technical abilities, defensive and attacking awareness, ball holding and goal scoring capabilities. Seeing him lift the conference league trophy in which he played a big role, he will surely fit into arteta’s system.

 

  1. Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester united)

 

Alejandro Garnacho Ferreyra is a professional footballer who plays as a winger for Premier League club Manchester United and the Argentina national team. Garnacho joined Manchester United’s youth system from Atlético Madrid in October 2020 on a compensation fee of £100,000.

Garnacho (born July 1, 2004) became an instant fan favorite at Old Trafford with the teenager’s future certainly looking exceptionally bright. The 19-year-old’s rapid rise through the ranks has been nothing short of impressive. With his direct style of play and ability to create goal-scoring opportunities, Garnacho could become a key figure for Manchester United.

 

  1. Julio Enciso (Brighton)

The Paraguayan became relevant in the Brighton & Hove Albion squad when Roberto De Zerbi got to the club. In 20 Premier League games, he scored 4 goals and registered 2 assists which is quite outstanding for a 19-year-old.

Coming from the youth team earlier dis season and scoring 3 goals in 4 appearances with them, Julio Enciso has being able to register his mark in the premier league scoring decisive goals against big clubs, he scored his first Premier League goal against Chelsea which was one of the goals of the month of April, scored a crucial goal against Arsenal that ended Arsenal’s title dreams and scored a sensational goal against Manchester City, the goal ensured Europa League football for Brighton and won the BBC goal of the season.   1. Malo Gusto (Chelsea)

Malo Gusto (born 19 May 2003) is a French professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Premier club Chelsea, the 20-year-old French international joined Chelsea from Lyon in the January transfer window for a fee of about €35 million (£30.7m). The 20-year-old right-back signed a six-and-a-half-year deal with Chelsea but stayed at Lyon till the end of the 2022/2023 campaign.

Having a remarkable start at the pre-seasons the French right-wing-back who was bought as a back-up for Chelsea’s RB Reece James emerges as a potential star. His versatility and crossing prowess make him a valuable asset on the pitch. With Chelsea’s evolution under a new coach, Gusto’s contributions could play a pivotal role in their success.

 

  1. Cole palmer (Manchester City)

Cole Jermaine Palmer (born 6 May 2002) is an English professional football who plays as an attacking midfielder for Premier league club Manchester city. representing England at youth level saw him lift the U21 Erous trophy.

Palmer joined Manchester city at under-eight level and progressed through the Academy age groups before captaining the under-18s during the 2019–20 season. The English youth international is well known for his versatility, technical ability, attacking contributions and the adding of creative dimensions to his game and has been impressed by man city, his potential has earned him a place in their plans. Palmer’s growth could make waves in the league.

 

  1. Levi Colwill (Chelsea)

Levi Colwill born on 26th of February, 2003 joined the Chelsea academy while he just 9 years of age, the 20year old just renewed his contract at Chelsea fc, despite the interest from other clubs from all over England.

The England youth international who plays mostly at center-back featured in the just concluded U21 Euros with England, he played a prolific role in the England U21 national team in which they were crowned champions of the tournament.

Levi Colwill is back to his boy hood club (chelsea) after a distinctive loan spell at Brighton and Hove albion in which he has being guaranteed a start under Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino, he will definitely be one to keep an eye on in the coming premier League season.

 

  1. Curtis Jones (Liverpool)

Curtis Julian Jones (born 30 January 2001) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Premier league club Liverpool. A local lad, Jones joined the Academy at the age of eight, and made his name rising through the ranks. Playing in the just concluded U21 Euros in which he played for England youth team he has seen his portfolio rise and has made his name familiar among Liverpool fans all over.
