2018 Winter Olympics: Simidele Adeagbo finishes in 55.17s for Skeleton Women’s Training Heat 1
Nigerian Skeleton Simidele Adeagbo finished in 55.17s for Women’s Training Heat 1 of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
Simidele is part of the Ice Blazers– along with Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere and Akuoma Omeoga– who are representing Nigeria at the Winter Olympics for the first time.
In the early hours of Monday, February 12, 1.35 am (9:35 am Pyeongchang time) Simidele competed in Women Official Training Heat 1.
Training Heat:
For the race, her start order number and bib were ‘5’ at the Olympic Sliding Centre.
She finished the 116.4Km / h race in 55.17s which was the last in the 19-woman race. She finished behind the winner with a time of 2.82s.
Australian Janine Flock finished first in 52.35s while German Laura Deas completed her race in 52.36.
Lizzy Yarnold from Great Britain raced 52.48, Tina Hermann from Germany finished in 52.64 while her compatriot Jacqueline Loelling completed in 52.64.
The result from the Heat is however not significant in the race for a medal.
Simidele will be in action when the Women Heat event kicks off on Friday, February 16 to Saturday, February 17.
