AFCON: Alhassan Yusuf gets late call-up to replace injured Ndidi

The Super Eagles of Nigeria face a significant setback ahead of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) campaign as midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is sidelined for the tournament in Ivory Coast.

Despite sustaining an injury while representing his English club, Leicester City, Ndidi initially secured a spot in the final 25-man roster for the 2023 AFCON.

However, subsequent medical examinations revealed that Ndidi won’t recuperate in time to participate in the Super Eagles’ quest for a fourth AFCON title.

In response, Alhassan Yusuf has received a late call-up as a replacement. The Royal Antwerp midfielder is set to join the Super Eagles’ training camp in Dubai.
