Morocco’s Royal Football Federation has confirmed that the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria and Guinea Bissau will be played in Morocco.
The Super Eagles face the Djurtus twice later in March and victories in those games could see the three-time Africa champions pick the ticket to Ivory Coast next year.
Nigeria currently top their Group A with six points following wins over Sierra Leone in Nigeria before thrashing Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 away from home.
Nigeria will host Guinea-Bissau at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja or the Godswill Akpabio Stadium Uyo March 20, before travelling to Morocco for the reverse fixture one week later.
However, according to a recent report by Morocco World News, the second game between the countries will be played in Morocco.
“In response to a request from a number of African football federations, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation agreed to host three matches in Morocco in March as a part of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers,” the FRMF said in a statement.
“The matches to be hosted in Morocco will include the matches of Togo vs Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau vs Nigeria, and Gambia vs Mali.”
The Eagles will hope for a repeat of their recent travel to Morocco where they played Sao Tome and Principe at Stade Adrar in their match-day 2 of the AFCON qualifiers when they won 10-0.
