Africa Games: Tobi Amusan bags women’s 100m hurdles heat

Nigerian sprint icon, Tobi Amusan emerged victorious in the women’s 100m hurdles Round 1 heat at the 13th Africa Games held in Ghana.

Amusan clocked a time of 13.03s to clinch victory in the heat.

With this win, Amusan secured a spot in the semifinals of the women’s 100m hurdles at the ongoing Africa Games.

However, Team Nigeria settled for silver and bronze in both the men’s and women’s 100m events on Tuesday, conceding gold to Cameroon and Gambia, respectively.

Usheoritse Itsekiri finished with a time of 10.23s in the men’s 100m, surprisingly losing to Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme, who crossed the line at 10.14s, while Namibia’s Hainuca Gilbert claimed bronze with a time of 10.25s. Nigeria’s Emmanuel Ekanem trailed behind, finishing fourth with a time of 10.42s.

In the women’s 100m event at the Africa Games, Olayinka Olajide secured bronze with a time of 11.55s, as Miriam Bittaye of Gambia clinched gold with 11.36s and Alyse Miccoy of Liberia secured silver with 11.49s.
