D’Tigress head coach Rena Wakama says her team is bracing for a tough test as they take on Cameroon in a high-stakes quarter-final clash at the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket on Thursday night.

“This is the business end of the tournament,” Wakama told Newsclick Media. “We know what’s at stake and are sticking to our goals with every game. AfroBasket is getting tougher, and Cameroon will be no exception.”

The match is scheduled to tip off at 10 p.m. Nigeria time at the Palais Des Sports de Treichville.

D’Tigress, the reigning champions, come into the game well rested after topping their group and enjoying two days without action. Their preparations have been further boosted by the return of veteran shooting guard Sarah Ogoke, who missed the previous two games but is now fit and ready to contribute her vast experience.

Cameroon, meanwhile, will be full of confidence after dismantling Angola 85–64 in their last outing. The Central African side remains the last team to defeat Nigeria at the Women’s AfroBasket, claiming a narrow 71–70 victory in the 2015 semi-finals in Yaoundé.
