Julian Alvarez’s strike secured Atletico Madrid a 1-0 victory over Osasuna on Sunday, propelling Diego Simeone’s side to the top of La Liga.

Atletico now lead Real Madrid by one point and sit six points clear of Barcelona at the halfway stage of the season. The win marked their 14th consecutive triumph across all competitions—a new club record—and their eighth straight league victory, with five clean sheets in that run.

“We’ve been doing a great job, but there’s a long way to go,” Alvarez told Movistar, urging continued humility and effort.

The decisive moment came early in the second half when Clement Lenglet nodded Antoine Griezmann’s corner into Alvarez’s path, allowing the Argentine to score his sixth league goal since joining from Manchester City.

Simeone’s team remains resolute in defence, with Jan Oblak untested throughout the match, while Osasuna, currently 11th, struggled to make an impact.

Earlier, Getafe beat Las Palmas 2-1 to move three points clear of the relegation zone.
