At the current World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, reigning champion Tobi Amusan qualified for the 100-meter hurdles final on Wednesday.
Despite a sluggish start on lane seven, Amusan won the second semi-final.
She is now raring to go for Thursday’s final race and defend the crown she won in Oregon last year.
Amusan was just authorised to run last week due to an alleged violation of anti-doping rules, but the Nigerian won the semi-final in 12.56 seconds.
Young Jamaican Ackera Nugent challenged her all the way, taking an early lead before Amusan snatched victory at the finish line.
The reigning NCAA Champion who clocked 12.60 seconds eventually settled for the 2nd position.
