Tolu Arokodare netted his maiden goal for Wolverhampton Wanderers in their 2-0 win over Everton in the Carabao Cup third round.
The 24-year-old striker came off the bench to score in the 87th minute, sealing victory at Molineux Stadium on Tuesday night with a composed finish.
Earlier, Marshall Munetsi had given Wolves the lead in the 29th minute with a superb strike. The hosts maintained control but didn’t extend their advantage until Arokodare showcased his flair to put the game beyond Everton’s reach.
Joao Gomes slipped a precise pass through a disorganised Everton backline, allowing the Nigerian forward to collect the ball and delicately chip it over goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
The strike marked Arokodare’s first goal for Wolves since his £24 million transfer from Genk earlier this month.
Elsewhere, Chelsea were forced to rally from behind to beat Lincoln City FC. The Championship side grabbed a first-half lead, but second-half goals from Tyrique George and Facundo Buonanotte ensured the Blues advanced.
