Arsenal defeat Everton but miss out on Premier League title

Arsenal missed out on their first Premier League title since 2004 despite a victory over Everton, as Manchester City clinched the championship.

To become champions, the Gunners needed a win against the Toffees and for City to lose or draw against West Ham.

Arsenal faced an early challenge when Idrissa Gueye’s deflected free-kick gave Everton the lead, but Takehiro Tomiyasu equalized three minutes later.

Although Arsenal fulfilled their part with Kai Havertz’s late winner, Manchester City’s triumph over West Ham ultimately secured the title for City, leaving Arsenal’s efforts insufficient.
