Arsenal have rejected a £30m bid from Everton for Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi as Marcos Silva bids to bolster his squad ahead of the new Premier League season, Sports Extra reports.
The Super Eagles winger, who helped Nigeria to a third-place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, is one of Unai Emery’s key men going into the new season after making 35 appearances, bagging three goals and seven assists for the Emirates last season.
But his place at the Gunners is under threat following the arrival of record signing Nicolas Pepe from Lille this summer.
Silva’s side had prioritised a move for Wilfried Zaha but Crystal Palace are demanding £100m for their star player.
The Toffees seeking alternatives have turned to the Nigerian international but the Gunners rebuffed their offer but according to reports Arsenal will be willing to accept a bid in the region of £40m.
Sports Extra also gathered that the 23-year-old is not agitating for a move but will make the switch to Goodison Park should a deal be agreed before transfer deadline day on Thursday (today).
Everton who finished eighth last season will face Crystal Palace in their EPL opener on Saturday.
