Aston Villa midfielder Leander Dendoncker has completed a loan move to Italian club Napoli for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

The 28-year-old midfielder has participated in eight Premier League matches for Villa this season, primarily as a substitute in seven of those appearances.

Leander Dendoncker, a Belgium international, joined Villa from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £13 million in September 2022, amassing 36 appearances across all competitions.

His lone goal for Villa was scored in a rare Premier League start during their 3-2 defeat by Manchester United last month. Dendoncker is the second player to depart Villa in the January transfer window, following attacking midfielder Finn Azaz’s permanent move to Middlesbrough.

Villa manager Unai Emery also secured the signing of defender Kosta Nedeljkovic from Red Star Belgrade for an undisclosed fee earlier this week.

The 18-year-old will remain with the Serbian club for the remainder of the season.

Napoli presently holds the ninth position in Serie A, having secured their first Scudetto in 33 years during the previous season.
